After traveling Alaska on a farewell tour for the past couple of days, Sarah Palin’s resignation announcement finally takes effect today. No doubt there are many who are wondering why exactly she is resigning and there no shortage in the rumors that it is because of political corruption or ineptitude.

I can assure you it’s neither of those. The media and democrats have been on her case for the past 7 months and every other week (literally), we hear stories about some investigation that is being filed accusing her of political corruption. It is not far fetched to say that within the months of loosing the election to Barack Obama, Palin has spent more time defending herself from the media then governing Alaska. More importantly all these political corruption investigations have had quite a toll on her family and her effectiveness in the political field.

Withdrawing from the political world for a short period is her best move as she can finally hone her efforts on other political sights. If anyone is buying her story that she feels she can be just as effective outside the political realm then inside is delusional. Thanks to Palin, McCain came pretty close to winning the election in November; a woman of such power would not abandon all political aspirations and go back to being a soccer mom.

What this is is a well calculated move for her to remove from the spotlight and concentrate her efforts on a possible 2010 or 2012 bid. Media attention is good for you, but when half of your time in politics is spent defending yourself then actually doing your job requirements, there is a problem.

As I’ve said for quite some time now, if Palin was not a threat to the Democratic controlled White House, Congress and Senate, the Democrats and media would not have kept her in the spotlight for so long. If you notice they have left McCain, Condoleezza Rice alone because both are inept in the political field at the current time. On the other hand Dick Cheney and Sarah Palin continue to make daily appearances in the media. In the political field, you don’t attack people who carry little or no weight.

As it stands, Palin is the Democrats greatest fear because she has the support of many in mainstream American who view her as a direct challenge to the corruption in Washington. It’s not everyday you have apolitical figure that takes heat from both sides of the isle. And it’s plain to see, that not only has Palin made enemies on the Democratic front, she has managed to gain the green eye from many Republicans as well who view her as a rival to their plans and policies.

I’m not going to try and predict Palin’s next move, but one thing I will predict, this is not the last time we will be seeing Palin the political field in the near future.
