I asked the question when Al Gore won, and I’ll ask the same thing about Obama. What the hell has this President done that makes him eligible for a Nobel Peace Prize. I thought the prize was actually given to people who have actually accomplished something. In all fairness to the man I won’t judge him by conservative values, and ever since Gore won last year it has been clear that being a conservative makes you ineligible for the prize. But even on his liberal values what has he accomplished?
He promised to close Gitmo on day one in office
He promised to end both wars
He promised healthcare reform
More civil rights for sodomites
Rebuild the image of the U.S in the world community
Unless my memory is going not one of those tasks on Obama’schecklist have been completed. In fact Afghanistan has gotten worse and we’re now thinking about passing control of some areas to the Taliban. We haven’t completely pulled out of Iraq and so far there is no timetable for a complete withdrawal. Healthcare has been anything but successful and has been most damning to his approval rating which is sitting in the 40′s at the moment. Homosexuals are still not able to get all the rights they clamor for and not to mention the image of the U.S in the world community, heck, the guy couldn’t even get the Olympics committee to choose Chicago. Russia laughs at us, Iran thinks we’re bluffing and N. Korea happily carries along with its nuclear weapons program undisturbed by the U.S.
No I’m not in favor of him completing any of his tasks but even his supporters (if they’re honest), have to agree that he has done shit since he came to office. Maybe a few more years into his presidency would change things but the reason of: ”for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples” is nothing but bull..
