Rush Limbaugh and the St. Louis Rams
So Rush wants to buy the St. Louis Rams, and now we’re hearing he might be dropped from the group that is bidding for the team. No I’m not a fan of the Rams (mainly because of their performance the past few years), and while I’m not the biggest fan of Rush I do believe that a lot of what he says is intentionally taken out of context.
Being an African American I’m all too familiar with the battle of the races that happens in this country. But what I would really like to know is how has Rush Limbaugh polarized sports that makes him unfit to be a co-owner of the St. Louis Rams? Yes I’ve heard the comments he made including the 2003 ESPN one that got him fired: “I think what we’ve had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well” and I am in total agreement with it.
I’m sick and tired of every damn situation in the U.S being used as a race card. I’m pissed when I hear my fellow black (and white) brothers style those Caucasians who disagree with the President as being racist. Worse is the fact that they have the audacity to style those of us African Americans who disagree with Obama as being brainwashed.
What Limbaugh said was a valid point (albeit might not have been the right place or time to say it). McNabb is a great player but he has been overrated by the NFL due to the fact of the color of his skin. Don’t believe me? How the hell did Vick (the most promising Black QB of the NFL in recent years), go to prison for aiding in dog fights (remember he never killed any dogs or fought them, only helped out in betting, location etc). yet these same people who crucified him for his actions turned a blind eye to Michael Jackson’s child molestation, or Roman Polanski sodomizing a 13-year-old girl.
No I do not condone what Michael Vick did, but which is worse, killing and torturing a dog (something he never did), or sodomizing boys and girls, scars that will never heal. And while I’m at it, the same people who praise Vick on his return to the NFL (Philadelphia Eagles), refuse to use rational sense concerning the NFL. Yes Rush is polarizing, but so was the NFL’s decision to allow Vick to play, or worse Nike to endorse him.
But it even gets worse, Rick “DUI” Sanchez, the jackass of a news commentator (and Bill O’Reilly wannabe) who is now bashing Limbaugh concerning the same situation is no better then Ted Kennedy. Back on December 10th 1990, Sanchez ran over a pedestrian while leaving a Miami Dolphins game. After fleeing the scene he came back 2 hours later and turned himself in (still under the legal limit). He pleaded no contest to DUI and where is he today? At the head of CNN’s Atlanta operation with an entire news organization betting their bread on him.
My point is those who are his biggest critics either have more skeletons in the closet or support those who have worse reputations then him.
