Three reasons why conservatism did not loose in NY

doug-hoffman

I just realized that I forgot to cover one of the ost important issues about Tuesday’s elections. Although I covered the Virginia and NJ gubernatorial elections as well as Maine’s rejection of a gay marriage bill, I fouled on coverage about NY mainly District 23 and NYC mayor.

For those who are wondering, conservatism did not loose. There is a reason why Hoffman lost and it has nothing to do with the fact that he was conservative. As to why Bloomberg won by such a close margin, there is a reason for that also.

  1. Dede Scozzafava was still on the ticket. Check the election results and you will see that she got about 5.5% of the votes. Had her name been completely off the ticket or NY laws allowed a runoff, Hoffman would have easily won with at least a 2-3% margin. The only reason Owens won was because a few of Scozzafava’s supporters jumped ship with her. Winning by a 2-3% margin isn’t big Owens, and remember, you’ll have to answer for your crimes in the mid term elections next year.
  2. Bloomberg is a RINO. Anyone who has any idea what Bloomberg is about will agree with me that Bloomberg is more liberal then John McCain. So don’t come to me with the crap that New Yorkers hate fiscal conservatives. Heck, half the city is going down the grain and Bloomberg is to ashamed to associate himself with the GOP. So I couldn’t give a damn if he lost or won because he is anything but Giuliani (not saying that Giuliani is a true conservative, but better then Bloomberg).
  3. Those were not big elections. Yeah, Palin, Beck, Limbaugh and others campaigned for Hoffman, and he lost. But what about Obama who campaigned for Corzine and Deeds. Looks like Limbaugh, Palin, Beck and Hannity have more wins under their belt for Tuesday then our dear Mr. President. And secondly, which are the more important areas? Hoffman will get another chance in less then a year, Can’t say the same thing for any democrats who have their eyes on the governorship in NJ or VA.
