This has probably been one of the most memorable years in political history. Not because of all the corruption charges and super wins but mainly because many of them were not expected. So after following this year’s election and political news I have compiled a list of five of the smartest and five of the dumbest politicians of 2008. Mind I remind you this has nothing to do with their performance as a politician but rather how they were able to convince voters to either vote or not vote for them.

Yesterday I dealt with the fact on why Obama won. As promised I will be consoling you Republican’s with the reasons why your candidate lost. As I said yesterday Obama and McCain do not differ in their message that much. What carried Obama to a super victory is the fact that Obama was able to bring his message across a lot better and of course McCain was carrying a lot of baggage from the current administration.

Had this credit crisis not pop up a few weeks before the election McCain would have won. If you notice during the primaries the main concern was illegal immigration and foreign affairs, and as usual the Republican’s trumped the Democrats on that.

Don’t get me wrong though, there are plenty of Republican who could have gone head to head against Obama and won but McCain was not one of those guys. Had Fred Thompson or Mitt Romney actually won the nomination Obama would not have stood a chance.

People did not vote for Obama because they trusted him. They voted for him because they were scared and McCain was not able to calm their fears. The exit polls (which can be greatly inaccurate) pointed out that Bush was not a major issue on McCain. The major issue was that people did not think he was able to calm their fears and fix this crisis.

Last but not least, McCain was a big joke on the campaign field. While Obama kept driving nail after nail in his coffin, all McCain could do is sit like a lame duck and make wild shots at Obama. And to be honest with you the only reason why I supported McCain was because of Sarah Palin. Had she not been on the ticket I would have campaigned for Obama. But its a good thing that McCain did not win, because had he won, the GOP would be kissing their chances of gaining seats in the house or even the presidency in the coming years.

I decided to put together a two part series discussing why Obama won and why McCain lost. Although I like rooting for the underdog (which means I was rooting for McCain I knew that he hardly stood a chance against Obama. Its not that Obama had a great message. In fact McCain and Obama differed only on foreign policy, taxes and healthcare. Of course there were other few differences but those were the major ones.

So why did Obama win? Two main reasons were the fact that he was able to explain his point better and half the voters voted out of fear and not because of substance. As I said before Obama is one of the most eloquent speakers to run for the Whitehorse and while McCain was not as bad as many people made it out to be he did not stand a chance against Obama.

So the real reason why Obama won was not because he had a superior message, its because he was in the right place at the right time. Had it not been for the credit crisis Obama would not be our 44′th Commander in Chief.

And don’t let anyone tell you it was the young voters who brought Obama victory because although more young voters were involved than previous elections they did not turn out in the record numbers everyone had predicted.

Simply put Obama was lucky. Am I happy he won? Yes and no. I am happy that I’ll be able to prove a point but I am not happy about some of the policies he will implement.

Tomorrow I’ll deal with [part 2] which deals with “why McCain lost.”

Look what I got for my birthday. What should ...

I was listening to Bill O’Reilly yes the guy you liberals cannot stand because he is not in bed with Barack Obama, and he said something real interesting. Do not vote out of fear or hatred because you are going to put someone into office who you will later regret.

I can’t tell you how many people I know who are voting for Obama just because they hate Bush and think McCain is too close to him. McCain is not Bush and his policies differ vastly from those of the current administration. If you’re voting for a candidate vote because you agree with what he stands for. I’ll say the same thing to McCain voters, do not vote for McCain just because you fear Obama. If you have fear of him let it be for his policies and not because he is democrat or black. Because I guarantee you that if you make this mistake (as many American’s are doing) you are going to regret it.

Forgive my lack of covering for this the most important election of this century. I have been spending the last few days in Bahamian paradise soaking up the sun and trying to keep my mind off the election. Unfortunately that has not been totally possible because I am still cursed with a TV (that has cable) and so I keep finding myself wandering to CNN, FOX News and of course ABC and CBS.

But despite that I have been enjoying myself and will be back in business the night before the election.

Its quite ironic how these polls are tightening up. Half of the new polls are showing Obama losing a point or two each day (starting last Monday) and while the liberal media will not report it, allot of genuine and accurate polls are showing Obama with a one point lead which of course falls in the margin of error.

Now what’s this about an assassination plot that was supposed to be targeted at Obama? I know some of you may not like the man but come on that’s just cold?

As for that news anchor who asked Biden those questions, I think they were perfectly justified. Come on, Obama’s whole idea about distribution of wealth does sound like a Marxist agenda (whether you like it or not). And I don’t blame Obama for pulling all future interviews from the station but I think he made a big mistake because its giving the interview with Biden a lot more publicity than they wanted to get.

Well that just about wraps it up for today. My final thoughts: Don’t pay attention to the polls whether you are a McCain or Obama supporter. Stay away from CBS, ABC, CNN and yes FOX until the end of the election. And whatever you do, do not resort to unethical measures to get the vote out; that includes you ACORN!

Didn’t I tell you, didn’t I tell you? A new AP poll finds that the presidential race has tightened significantly with the latest AP polls showing Obamma at 44 and McCain at 43 (statistically tied). So much for all those Obama supporters who thought everything was over. Seems like the Joe the Plumber thing really struck a note with voters.

AP NEWS

The poll, which found Obama at 44 percent and McCain at 43 percent, supports what some Republicans and Democrats privately have said in recent days: that the race narrowed after the third debate as GOP-leaning voters drifted home to their party and McCain’s “Joe the plumber” analogy struck a chord.

Three weeks ago, an AP-GfK survey found that Obama had surged to a seven-point lead over McCain, lifted by voters who thought the Democrat was better suited to lead the nation through its sudden economic crisis.

As I said before, don’t underestimate Mac. No one ever thought he would win the Republican nomination and look at where he is now.

Believe me I have no idea what the title of the post stands for but I thought its time to turn some lights on the state of our journalism in the US. We don’t have journalism. I swear if Barack Obama looses to McCain in the next few day’s it will be the end of journalism in the US as we know it.

And for all you McCain fans, don’t sour because the media keeps bashing him. And neither should you Barack Obama fans rest at ease. Mac can come back, in fact he has already started it.

 Nature magazine racist?

I’m tired of the race card being brought up so many times. At first it was Vogue Magazine and their magazine cover of Lebron James with Gisele Bundchen who some idiotic African American’s and Caucasians said had a resemblance to King Kong and Ann Denham. Now its Nature Magazine and a cover for their October magazine. Seriously people, rest it already. And as one person pointed out (and rightly so) both dogs are pretty old).

But I’ll let you decide for yourself. You can view the picture above and leave me your comments as to what you think. Have a nice day.

Am I the only one who notices that Obama lacks a good sense of humor? It was pretty obvious when he did the 10 surprising things about Obama. And while Hillary was no better she did score a few extra points. But last night was one of the clearest examples that Obama lacks a real sense of humor. McCain totally creamed him at the Alfred E. Smith dinner.

But I will let you judge for yourself. Excerpts from both candidates jokes can be seen below.

The video for the third and last presidential debate can be viewed below. The entire debate was focused on the economy except for a few remarks about foreign policy. Its quite funny how watch candidate kept interrupting each other during the first half of the debate and how many times Obama kept pinning President Bush to John McCain with John finally saying “if you wanted to run against Goerge Bush, you should have run four years ago.”

Other than McCain being his usual self and Obama doing the same old damn thing there isn’t much except for Joe the Plumber who gets his name mentioned over two dozen times.

After you finish watching it, you can read my analysis of the debate as well as who won.
